Leaning Technologies and ST Idea Partner to Accelerate Java Application Modernisation in Spain

Leaning Technologies has partnered with ST Idea to make CheerpJ’s advanced Java-to-Web modernisation technology available to enterprise customers across Spain.
The collaboration combines CheerpJ’s proven ability to bring legacy Java applications into modern browsers with ST Idea’s local expertise in digital transformation and strong presence within the Oracle Spanish ecosystem.
Helping Enterprises Modernise Java and Oracle Forms Applications
Many organisations in Spain continue to rely on business-critical applications built on Java Applets, Java Web Start, including Oracle Forms and E-Business Suite. As browser plugins and Internet Explorer have disappeared, and Java Applets and Web Start have been deprecated on modern Java, these systems are increasingly difficult to support and deploy securely.
Through this partnership, Leaning Technologies and ST Idea will bring CheerpJ and ST Idea’s expertise in integrating it to help customers modernise these applications for the web, enabling them to:
- Run Oracle Forms and EBS in modern browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and Safari
- Remove the need for local Java installations and Internet Explorer mode
- Improve security posture and reduce dependency on Citrix environments
- Extend the life of critical legacy systems while planning long-term modernisation
A Partnership Built on Technical Collaboration
The partnership between Leaning Technologies and ST Idea is grounded in technical validation and hands-on success.
ST Idea is currently implementing CheerpJ in a large-scale modernisation project, demonstrating how enterprises can efficiently migrate their Java-based applications to the browser without a full rewrite. The project is progressing well and is expected to be completed during the remaining months of 2025, further showcasing the value of CheerpJ as a practical solution for modernising complex enterprise systems.
ST Idea has also explored both the CheerpJ JNLP Runner browser extension and server-side integration models, validating how the technology fits different enterprise needs.
As part of this partnership, ST Idea will serve as Leaning Technologies’ approved partner for Spain, delivering proof-of-concepts, assisting with local opportunities, and providing first-line customer support.
Leaning Technologies will provide second-line support and product expertise.

Both organisations are aligned on a shared goal: helping enterprises modernise legacy applications quickly and efficiently.
Planned joint activities include:
- Delivering additional customer modernisation projects
- Hosting a webinar in early 2026 for ST Idea’s existing customers and the Oracle Spanish User Group.
